Abrazo
Description
This piece was created in October 2014 for the “UAL-Escuela del Mármol de Andalucía” I International Sculpture Symposium. Some 12 artists from different countries were selected to make their works in situ at the University of Almería. The theme running throughout all the works is “For gender equality and against gender violence”. This piece, entitled “Abrazo”, is by the Costa Rican sculptor Ulises Jiménez Obregón. It comprises a cube-shaped grey stone pedestal, on which stand various highly-polished concave and convex blocks of marble. Beneath, two ochre-coloured plaques display the following inscriptions: “Ulises Jiménez Obregón. Costa Rica. Abrazo. October 2014”. “Come, together we will be life in this endless embrace, in this stone where my soul lives”.
