Filo Immaginario
Description
This piece was created in October 2014 for the “UAL-Escuela del Mármol de Andalucía” I International Sculpture Symposium. Some 12 artists from different countries were selected to make their works in situ at the University of Almería. The theme running throughout all the works is “For gender equality and against gender violence”. This piece, entitled “Filo Immaginario”, is by the Italian sculptor Angelo Bordonari. It comprises a grey stone rectangular pedestal, supporting two other rectangular blocks of marble that stand facing each other. The two sides that face each other are carved into alternating concave and convex forms. So, while the blocks are separate, if they came together their undulating edges would interlock perfectly to form one single piece. Two ochre-toned plaques on the pedestal below complete the work, with the following inscriptions: “Angelo Bordonari. Italy. Filo Immaginario. October 2014”. “Mouths that talk or mouths that listen, and also mouths that break free from their silence, breaking out of the block, leaving their mark and condemning violence itself”.
