Description
This piece was created in October 2014 for the “UAL-Escuela del Mármol de Andalucía” I International Sculpture Symposium. Some 12 artists from different countries were selected to make their works in situ at the University of Almería. The theme running throughout all the works is “For gender equality and against gender violence”. This piece, entitled “Progresión Dinámica”, is by the Spanish artist Héctor López Guillamón. It comprises a cube-shaped grey pedestal supporting two marble blocks arranged vertically that outline, in simplified form, the melding of a male and female body. The artist plays with the texture of the material, with some surfaces smooth and others roughened. The piece is rounded off with two ochre-coloured plaques displaying the following inscriptions: “Héctor López Guillamón. Spain. October 2014”. “We both start out from one single block, hence we remain connected. We share in growth that spirals ever-upward until, finally, he bows his head in sorrowful remorse at the behaviour of his fellow men, while she holds her head high, proud of her struggle in the fight for equality”.

Escultura realizada durante el mes de octubre del año 2014 en el marco del “I Simposio Internacional de Escultura UAL-Escuela del Mármol de Andalucía”. En este evento fueron seleccionados 12 artistas de diferentes países que realizaron la obra in situ en unas instalaciones de la Universidad de Almería. Las obras tienen como tema “la igualdad y contra la violencia de género”.
Esta obra titulada “Progresión dinámica” se debe al escultor español Héctor López Guillamón. Está compuesta por un pedestal de piedra color gris de forma cúbica sobre el que se alza la estructura marmórea conformada por dos piezas de tendencia vertical que parecen dibujar, de forma simplificada, la unión de un cuerpo masculino con otro femenino. El artista juega con la textura del material, con superficies pulidas y rugosas.
La obra se completa con dos placas de color ocre que tienen las siguientes inscripciones: “Héctor López Guillamón. España. Octubre 2014”. “Ambos partimos de un mismo bloque, por el cual permanecemos unidos. Compartimos un crecimiento ascendente y en espiral, finalmente, el hombre permanece con la cabeza agachada, arrepentido por el comportamiento de sus semejantes, la mujer la mantiene hacia arriba, orgullosa de su esfuerzo en la lucha hacia la igualdad”.
