Head of Alonso Pérez De Guzmán, "Guzmán the Good"
Description
The mould for this work from the Gipsoteca collection was based on the sculpture in an attitude of prayer of Guzmán the Good by Martínez Montañés, located at the San Isidoro del Campo Monastery in Santiponce along with that of María Alonso Coronel, also in an attitude of prayer.
These two works are the only non-sacred figures Motañes created in his lifetime, apart from the bust of the equestrian statue of Philip IV in the Plaza de Oriente, Madrid.
